Situated in the Manaslu region, high up near the Tibetan border there lies a hidden valley called Tsum Valley. The valley lies in the western Nepal of Gorkha district inside the Manaslu Conservation Area which was established in 1998. The Tsum Valley is considered one of the world’s remotest Himalayan Valleys which was a restricted region until 2008. The valley which used to be the trade link to Tibet was also a part of it once.

Tsum means ‘The Valley of Vivids’, which occupies an area of 1662 square kilometers. To reach the valley 4-6 days of hiking is done from a place called Arughat, a nearby town which is a 7-8 hours drive from Kathmandu valley. The people from Tsum valley are called ‘Tsumba’ and they never slaughter animals or believe in sacrificing to God. And they practice Bon Shamanism and Buddhism. The valley consists of 33 villages with 529 households and a population of 1810.

Being a restricted valley, only very few adventurer travelers have made it to this mysterious valley but it is slowly coming to the limelight after the visit of several tourists.
