The Poon Hill Trek in Nepal is one of the country's most popular short treks, offering some of the most enticing views of the powerful Himalayas and the spectacular Alpine forests across the Annapurna region. The rhododendron and the deep pine forest give you a nature walk in their essence. The major highlight of the trek is the morning hike to the top of the hill station at Poon Hill itself, for the spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas to the east. The view from Poon Hill is the auspicious part of this trek, after a short hike from Ghorepani. One can explore the breathtaking view of the range Annapurna and Dhaulagiri along with their peaks of more than 8000 meters.
In addition to the panoramic views of the Himalayan mountains, including Mount Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Annapurna I (8091 m), Mount Machhepuchhre (6998 m), Nilgiri (7041 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Annapurna II (7939 m), Annapurna III (7555 m) and Tukuche (6920 m), Poonhill Trek offers trekkers the opportunity to blend with the local villagers and their daily lives. Along the way to Poon hill, you'll find thick Rhododendron forests and some of the ethnic Magar villages. The top of Poonhill provides an incredible view of the sunrise while the Himalayas form the scene's backdrop. Ghorepani altitude 2860m and Poonhill 3210m are the highest elevations reached on this trek.
The maximum height you will go on this short trek is 3210 meters from sea level so there is no risk of any high altitude sickness. You will follow the ancient trails that connect local communities, pass through blooming rhododendron forests and rice paddies, and enjoy the view of snow-covered mountains.
