Places to visit in Haridwar.

Mansa Devi Temple is one of the popular tourist destinations in Haridwar situated atop the Bilwa Parvat on the Shivalik Hills. This temple is dedicated to the Goddess Mansa who is supposed to be the symbol of goddess Shakti. Moreover, it is believed that this temple is formed from Lord Shiva’s mind. It is the most venerated place in Haridwar, and devotees have a belief that the goddess Mansa fulfills all their dreams into reality as the name of the goddess Mansa refers to wish. However, the temple can be reached through trekking or ropeway which is the not to be missed destination in Haridwar. 

Chandi Devi Temple

Chandi Devi Temple is the Siddh Peeth which is dedicated to the Goddess Chandi taken to be the form of Goddess Durga. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims visit this place to have their wishes fulfilled. Situated at the top of the Shivalik Hills’ Neel Parvat which was said to be the mythological battleground where the Goddess wins the battle with the demons Chand- Mund and Sumbha- Nisumbha. Moreover, this idol temple was built in the 8th century by Adhi Shankaracharya and it is estimated that the temple was constructed by the Kashmir King Suchan Singh talking about the construction period of this temple.

Maya Devi Temple

This temple is dedicated to Goddess Maya who is taken to be the major deity of Haridwar earlier known as Mayapuri. This temple is the oldest temple in entire India. Talking about the construction of this temple this Maya Devi Temple was constructed in the 11th century on Har Ki Pauri Ghat. Following the mythological literature, this temple was built on the place where Goddess Sati’s heart and navel fell. Numbers of devotees visit this temple to get the blessings of the Goddess and for their wishes to be fulfilled. 

Sapt Rishi Ashram

Sapt Rishi Ashram is considered to be the most renowned place to visit in Haridwar. The word Sapt Rishi refers to seven sages because this place attracted the popular seven sages. This place is a very tranquil site for meditation and yoga. This place spreads the tranquil ambiance and spirituality to the visitors. According to the Mythology, the renowned seven sages: Kashyapa, Vashishta, Atri, Vishwamitra, Jamadagni, Bharadwaja, and Gautam while meditating along the banks of the river got disturbed by the sound of the flowing river and therefore captured it. To reduce the loudness of rushing water, Ganga separated the flow into seven streams (Sapt Sarovar).

Shantikunj 

Shantikunj was established in 1971 by Pandit Sriram Sharma Acharya Regarded to be the most famous ashram that is in Haridwar. Shantikunj is the major focal point in Haridwar which provides a sense of spirituality among the visitors. This pilgrimage center, which serves as a school for social and spiritual enlightenment, has led thousands of individuals along the correct path and provided them with long-term satisfaction. Similarly, it is an appropriate location for imparting training to the public based on divine spiritual concepts, intending to revive Rishi traditions. The sole motive of this ashram is to spread divinity among the visitors. The various attractions of this ashram are Yagya shala, Gayatri Mata Temple, Akhand Deep, Devatma Himalaya Temple, ancient Rishi temples, and a Divine Culture Exhibition. Moreover, apart from visiting this place, one can take part in the daily activities in the ashram. To broaden the spiritual and moral values, the ashram organized many training camps for the devotees. Thus, this place is ideal for those who seek tranquility and spirituality.  

Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar

Patanjali Yogpeeth Haridwar is the most renowned place that is located in Haridwar which is a medical and research institute in yoga and Ayurveda. Also recognized as the most famous yoga institute which is the largest one in the world. Established in 2006, Patanjali Yogpeeth is built with the purpose to develop and practice yoga and Ayurveda and this place is the manufacturer of ayurvedic medicines. Maharsi Rishi Patanjali is the first person who developed the yoga practices. And Baba Ramdev is the one who spreads the practices of yoga to the world. For people who have a fascination with yoga and Ayurveda, this place is one of the ideal places to visit. People can get ayurvedic treatments and learn from you there. Besides ayurvedic medications and treatments, people can visit this place for research, residential accommodations, ATMs, canteen, and so on. 

Swami Vivekanand Park 

Swami Vivekananda Park is the most refreshing park that is located in Haridwar. The triangular-shaped park has lush green lawns and flowering beds along with housing. The major eye-catching point of this park is the huge statue of Swami Vivekanand which can be seen from a far distance from the park. Thus, this park creates rejoice and amusement for the visitors as this place is perfect for picnic and Jogging activities. This park is located to the Har Ki Pauri on the bank of the river Ganga which amuses the visitors with its pure and pristine beauty. From here, the outstanding scenes of Har Ki Pauri can also be visible. 

 Vaishno Devi Temple

Considered to be one of the Shakti Peethas in India, Vaishno Devi Temple is a famous temple that is located in Kashmir which has so many tunnels and caves that bring to the inner sanctum is the temple of Goddess Vaishno Devi. It is considered to be the abode of three Gods: Lakshmi, Kaali, and Saraswati. This place is the ideal place for both religious and natural purposes. The art and architecture of this temple are very extraordinary. While talking about its architecture, the recent temple is completely different from the original temple. The idol of Maa Vaishno Devi and 12 Jyotirlinga are the major attractions of this place. It is believed that the temple is built in commemoration of the devotee of Lord Ram, Trikuta.
