Ghalegaun is situated in Lamjung district of Nepal, Ghalegaun is known as the popular scenic tourist destination in Nepal which lies at an elevation of 2100 meters above the sea level. Ghalegaun is Asia's model tourism village.  It is surrounded by Annapurna circuit, Ghalegaun is almost 108km northwest of Kathmandu and 12.5 km northeast of Pokhara.

The central focal point of Ghalegaun is The SAARC Village Tourism Museum. The museum was launched by Bidhya Devi Bhandari in 2017.  Likewise, the number of tourists to the place is growing every day. The town is becoming a model tourism destination in SAARC countries.

Moreover, Ghalegaun is the embodiment of unique ethnic culture and this place is taken to be the fusion of exquisite natural beauty and unspoiled ethnic lifestyle. Ghalegaun is a beautiful location which have breathtaking views of the western Himalayas, which incluses Machhapuchhare (6693m), Annapurna (8091m), Annapurna II (7939m), Annapurna IV (7525m), LamjungHimal, BouddhaHimal (6974m), Himalchuli (6747m), and other peaks, which add to the place's unique beauty. The Ghale Gaun valley is primarily made up of Gurung settlements that provide unique village tourism and community-based hospitality. 

Additionally, this village is surrounded by mountains, rivers, streams, green forests, and waterfalls. Likewise, this place is the symbol of tranquility and purity. This place is taken to be the great place to view Annapurna massifs. Similarly, this location provides a lovely home stay, where tourists can enjoy great organic dishes and pleasant accommodations. More specifically, the people of Ghalegaun greet tourists with Marigold flowers and demonstrate their amazing hospitality. That’s why a trek to Ghalegaun can be memorable for a lifetime. 

Visitors get the chance to be familiar with local culture, tradition and lifestyles of Ghalegaun. Moreover, the festivals are primarily guided by two religions: Hinduism and Buddhism, which are followed by the majority of the population. The biggest event in Ghalegaun is Lhosar because it is the gurung village. This festival occurs during the Nepalese month of Poush (December-January). During the Chandi Purnima (full moon) in May, Dashain and Tihar are also celebrated. The Ghatu dance is another attraction of this village, which is done with great zeal for four days.


Moreover, during the month of August, they also visit the Dudh Kunda (Milk Pond) to take a ritual bath and honor the local deities. The vast woods of pine trees, willow trees, and bushy plants give the village a green appearance, while the jungles of rhododendron, chestnut, raspberry, nettle, hemp, and other plants give it a colorful and magnificent appearance. Similarly, for bird lovers, the presence of partridges, nightingales, owls, doves, crows, eagles, kites, vultures, and barbets makes it thrilling. In addition, the presence of diverse wildlife species makes the location both dangerous and interesting.

All in all, Ghalegaun is a beautiful community of gurung settlements with abundant natural and cultural resources. This Gurung settlement offers a beautiful mixture of culture and nature in one frame which definitely captivates the visitors to the heavenly world.
